The Time Machine (1960): Summary

The movie begins with George, the time traveler, discussing the idea of time travel with his friends. After this discussion, he decides to time travel using the time machine that he has built. First he stops in 1917 and meets his friend's son and discovers that his friend has died. Then, he stops in the 1960s and experiences atomic warfare. Finally, he lands in 802701. It is here that he saves Weena from drowning and meets the Eloi people. While with Weena, George discovers the Morlocks. It is through a set of talking rings that George is told that the human race has been divided and that the Eloi are bred by the Morlocks to be eaten. As soon as George decides to venture to the underworld, Weena and other Eloi are summoned by a siren and taken underground. George goes to save them and he uses his last match to blow up the underworld of the Eloi. Just when he thinks they have been destroyed, the Morlocks set a trap for George. George escapes using the time machine and he returns back to his old time. In his old time, he has a final dinner with his friends and then he returns to the future to help Weena and the Eloi rebuild their civilization; and he takes three books with him.
